A Peenya Industries Association delegation led by Past President Dr.Jayarumu, Sr.Vice President Sri.M.M.Giri, Vice President Sri.Anand Rao, Hon. Secretary Sri.Murali Krishna B, Joint Secretary Sri. Danappa.D.P met with Pollution Control Board Chairman Sri.Lakshman on 10 July 2018. The PIA delegates discussed with Sri Lakshman regarding the proposal to set up a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Peenya.
In the first week of July, the Government of Karnataka, in its budget allocated INR 10 crores for setting up a CETP plant in Peenya, for the benefit of all industries in and around Peenya. This comes as a huge relief for the industries in Peenya because they would be able to transport the effluents at a very less cost. Earlier, they had to transport the effluents to a private CETP plant in Doddaballapur, at a higher transportation cost. The PIA hopes to get the CETP up and running within the next six months.
