The KSPCB has issued the Final Document on Revised Classification of Industrial Sectors under Red, Orange, Green, and White Categories (2016) vide Notification No. KSPCB/717/COC /2017/1232 dated 14.07.16.
The list of Categorization of Industries is in two parts, viz. Part A i.e. the CPCB re-categorized list of industries and Part B i.e. the State-specific activities re-categorized by the KSPCB. A gist of the orders passed in the Notification is given below:
* As per CPCB final report, White category shall not be included in the consent mechanism.
* The consent validity period for large/ medium/ small /micro Red, Orange, Green category industries/ organizations /activities with effect from June 1, 2016 shall be as per Notification No. KSPCB/798/ COC/2016-17/1425 dated 15.06.2016.
* The industries covered in Red, Orange, Green category will remain in force till the validity of CFO/CTO. When they apply for renewal of CFO/CTO thereafter, it shall be considered under the revised list.
* Coverage of industries/ organizations/activities indicated in the revised list under consent mechanism shall be subject to requirements of Section 25 of the Water Act and Section 21 of the Air Act.
* The ‘F’ Register shall be revised based on the revised list.
* The sectors not finding place in the CPCB’s revised list of Red, Orange, Green and White category shall be categorized based on the relative pollution potential of industrial sectors as enumerated in the CPCB’s “Final Document on Revised Classification of Industrial Sectors under Red, Orange, Green, and White Categories (Feb 29, 2016)” by the Committee constituted for the purpose.
